New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that 3 crore 'pucca' houses have been completed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the poor, adding that the houses have also become a "symbol of women empowerment."

The construction of 2.52 crore dwellings under the PM Awas Yojana (rural) has been completed. A total of Rs 1.95 lakh crore has been approved for this purpose. So far, the PM Awas Yojana (urban) has resulted in the construction of 58 lakh dwellings. A total of Rs 1.18 lakh crore has been set aside for this purpose.
Every residence has basic amenities like a gas connection, water connection, and electricity under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
