Syria, Iran Foreign Ministers discuss nuclear deal

DAMASCUS: Syrian President Bashar Assad met with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian in Damascus to discuss the progress of talks on reviving the 2015 nuclear deal, according to Syrian state news agency SANA.

According to the source, during the discussion on Wednesday, Assad stated that achieving a nuclear deal has become more vital than ever for serving Iran's interests as well as the regional and global balance.

As per reports, Amir Abdullahian briefed Assad on the ongoing nuclear talks, saying that his country has made proposals that are in line with the rights and interests of the Iranian people, and that reaching an agreement requires the West to respond with seriousness to the proposals.

The two sides also talked about bilateral collaboration in the fight against terrorism. Syria's significance in regional stability was emphasised by the Iranian Foreign Minister, who reiterated that his country will stand by Syria and its people until it regained control of all regions.
