Taiwanese prosecutors are investigating a local company connected to a troubling incident involving exploding pagers in Lebanon, which has significantly impacted Hezbollah. As part of this inquiry, four individuals have been questioned as witnesses.

Claims of Israeli Involvement

Security sources have indicated that Israel may be involved in the explosion of these pagers, raising tensions in an already unstable environment. While Israel has not confirmed or denied these allegations, the incident has attracted considerable attention and scrutiny.

Unraveling the Connections

The investigation seeks to understand how the pagers were weaponized and remotely detonated, with details still unclear. This case spans several countries, including Taiwan, Bulgaria, Norway, and Romania.

Gold Apollo, the Taiwanese company, clarified that it did not manufacture the pagers involved in the explosion. They stated that BAC, a Hungary-based firm linked to the devices, held a license to use Gold Apollo’s brand. Taiwan's government also confirmed that the pagers were not produced in Taiwan.

Continuing Witness Interrogations

The Shilin District Prosecutors Office in Taipei is leading the investigation into Gold Apollo. They have confirmed that, in addition to two individuals questioned earlier, they have now spoken with both a current and a former employee as witnesses. A spokesperson mentioned, “We are processing this case expeditiously and seeking resolution as soon as possible,” but did not disclose the names of those interrogated or indicate if further questioning would occur.

Among those questioned last week were Gold Apollo’s president and founder, Hsu Ching-kuang, and Teresa Wu, the only employee of Apollo Systems. Gold Apollo has not commented on the investigation and has not responded to further requests for information. Attempts to reach Wu for comments have been unsuccessful, and both individuals did not provide any statements to the media when leaving the prosecutors’ office last week.
