Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Monday announced that he will launch a promenade from Bihar to Delhi for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) census. He said he will launch a promenade to put pressure on the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. Talking to the media in Patna, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar Assembly claimed that it was due to the efforts of the RJD that both the Houses of the Bihar Assembly had passed a resolution twice in support of the caste census.

The same Tejashwi was reacting to questions in which CM Nitish Kumar blamed the corona pandemic for the delay in the state-based survey to be conducted for the caste census. The RJD leader said, "Now it seems that we are left with no option but to take to the streets and take out a promenade from Bihar to Delhi. "

"All I can say is that on the initiative of RJD and Lalu ji, resolutions were passed twice in the Assembly and Legislative Council and an all-party delegation received from the PM to put pressure on the Modi government over the demand for caste census, which was led by Nitish Kumar.'' Tejashwi Yadav had announced on social media before his statement that the RJD "will not allow any census work in Bihar until the Centre is approved on the demand for a caste census". At the same time, the Centre has said on the floor of Parliament that it has no plans to enumerate castes other than SCs and STs.
