Lucknow: The Allahabad High Court is likely to give its verdict today on the bail plea of senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader and former UP cabinet minister Azam Khan. In fact, on May 5, the court had reserved its verdict in the case. The hearing will begin at 3:45 pm today. However, even if granted bail, Azam Khan may not be able to come out of jail. The reason is that three days ago, another case has been registered against Azam Khan.
Now Azam Khan has been accused of forgery over the recognition of Rampur Public School (RPS). On the complaint of BJP leader Akash Saxena, the police have obtained a warrant to keep SP MLA Azam Khan in judicial custody while making him the main accused. It may be mentioned that out of the total 88 cases registered against Azam Khan, he has been granted bail in 86 cases. The verdict in the enemy property case may come today. Earlier, it was believed that if the high court's decision on the bail plea in the enemy property case comes in favour of Azam Khan, then he will be released from jail, but after the registration of the new case, the situation has changed.
Azam Khan's bail plea was also heard in the top court on May 6. The Supreme Court had then expressed displeasure over the delay in the decision on the bail plea, saying that even after the lapse of 137 days, the verdict in the case has not come till date. The supreme court had said that on Wednesday (May 11) it will hear the matter itself.
