CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin stated on Monday that Governor R.N.Ravi is insulting the people by not delivering the NEET exemption Bill to the President. He further stated that if necessary, an all-party meeting will be convened after reviewing the Governor's actions in presenting the NEET exemption Bill to President Ram Nath Kovind.
Stalin said it has been 70 days since the Assembly submitted the Bill to Ravi after he had previously sent it back to the House for review. As per media reports, the Governor would send the bill to the President.
The NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test) is a common entrance exam for medical school admissions. The Tamil Nadu Assembly had passed a bill seeking exemption from the NEET for the state.
Ravi was tasked with forwarding the bill to the President for his signature. Ravi, on the other hand, referred the Bill back to the Assembly for reconsideration. In February, the Assembly adopted the Bill once more and submitted it to Ravi. The Chief Minister added that attending Ravi's tea party would be a disrespect to the state's 7.5 crore people, since the NEET exemption Bill is a representation of the people's sentiments. Stalin said, the Bill is lying unattended in the Governor's office.
