The country's COVID-19 caseload went past 86 lakh on Wednesday, and the number of people recovered from the disease increases to 80.13 lakh, pushing the national recovery rate to 92.79 per cent, as per the Union Health Ministry's data.

One of the highly affected state, Tamil Nadu recorded 2,184 cases and the total Corona positives in TN crosses 7.5 lakh (7,50,409. The number of discharge is 2,210. Total discharge stands at 7,20,339. Active cases remains at 18,655. The total number of Samples tested is 77,309 and the fatalities 28 and the total death toll is 11,415. New cases in Chennai, state capital stands at 571.

Throughout the nation, 44,281 more people testing positive for coronavirus in a span of 24 hours, the infection tally mounted to 86,36, 011, while the death toll rose to 1,27,571 after new 512 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. However, the number of active cases dropped below five lakh. The active cases is 4,94,657 in the country which comprise 5.73% of the total caseload, the data stated.
