In Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M K Stalin has directed the creation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into recent allegations of sexual abuse involving minor girls at a bogus National Cadet Corps (NCC) camp in Krishnagiri district. This move comes as the state government aims to address the serious concerns raised by the incident.
On Wednesday Stalin directed the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the sexual assault case involving fake NCC trainers at a private school in Bargur, Krishnagiri district.
The Chief Minister convened a meeting with Chief Secretary N. Muruganandham, Director General of Police Shankar Jiwal, and other senior government officials. During the meeting, it was announced that Inspector General of Police (Establishment) K. Bhavaneeswari will lead the SIT. This team is assigned to examine the case filed at the Bargur All Women Police Station under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
So far, the police have arrested five of the six impostors posing as NCC trainers, along with four individuals from the school management who are accused of attempting to conceal the crime.
The SIT, headed by senior IPS officer K Bhavaneeswari, is tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. The team has been given a deadline of 15 days to expedite the inquiry and is expected to file a charge-sheet within 60 days.
In addition to the SIT, Stalin has also called for the formation of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT). This team, led by Social Welfare Department Secretary Jayashree Muralidharan, will include members from the police and school education departments. Its primary role will be to propose measures to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future and to ensure the well-being of the affected children.
The incident in question involves an eighth-grade student who was reportedly sexually assaulted at a fake NCC camp in Bargur, Krishnagiri. So far, 11 individuals, including the main suspect, have been arrested in connection with the case.
Authorities are also investigating whether similar fraudulent training camps were operated elsewhere. Chief Minister Stalin has emphasized the need for strict punishment for those responsible for this grievous crime.
