The Government of Tamil Nadu has informed the High Court in Chennai that there is no plan to implement a full curfew in Chennai in the wake of increasing coronavirus.

Judges Vineet Kothari and Suresh Kumar, who were hearing the video footage of the cases listed before them at the Madras High Court yesterday, said the government is planning to intensify the curfew as coronavirus spreads in Chennai. Explaining the matter today, Additional Chief Prosecutor of the Government of Tamil Nadu SR Rajagopal said that no decision has been taken so far to implement a full-scale operation in Chennai.

He added that the expert panel set up to investigate coronavirus in Chennai has not made any recommendations.

In addition, SR Rajagopal explained that the e-pass has been discontinued for issuing e-passes to out-of-towners in Chennai and explained that e-pass has been issued by the district authorities.

Moreover, the Tamil Nadu government has reported that many civilians are leaving without wearing a mask despite the risk of coronavirus infection in Chennai. The judges said they hoped the Tamil Nadu government would take all necessary measures to control the severity of the coronavirus in Chennai.
