Tamil Nadu government extended the statewide holiday, cyclone Nivar

TN CM Edappadi Palaniswami had announced a statewide holiday today, the state government officials had a meeting with the CM, following which the government has come up with a decision to extend the statewide holiday tomorrow also, on regards with the severe cyclone Nivar and the anticipated heavy rainfalls in different districts. Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpet and 13 other districts that come under the observance of heavy to extreme rainfall was declared holiday on 26th November, Thursday. 

The regional meteorological department has announced that Cyclone NIVAR is expected to cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mamallapuram during mid-night of 25th and early hours of 26th November.

The IMD has issued cyclone warning to the coasts of Tamilnadu and Puducherry. In its official site, the IMD has said: "Cyclone Warning for Tamilnadu and Puducherry coasts, SCS NIVAR to cross Tamil Nadu and Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mamallapuram around Puducherry during mid-night of 25th and early hours of 26th Nov as VSCS."
