With Tamil Nadu government allowing the state run buses, opening shops till 10 PM and lot more relaxation in a way more people will gather at a place  the health advisory was worried about the pandemic spread. But, for relief the Tamil NAdu COVID-19 positive cases were low as 2,886 on October 24 compared to 7000 in the month of June. Tamil Nadu on Saturday recorded 2,886 new COVID-19 cases, ending the tally to 7,06,136, on the day, the health department said. 

Tamil Nadu crosses 7 Lakh COVID-19 cases mark

The death toll is 35 and taking the death toll to 10,893. The state has been witnessing a steady decline in the number of new infections over the past few days. After a long time, on October 18, Tamil Nadu saw the daily new cases dropping below the 4,000 mark. Previous month spent after hovering around the 5,000 mark. The recovery on a single day continues with 4,024 people walking out of health care facilities after getting cured, totalling to 6,63,456. Active cases as on Saturday stood at 31,787.  Testing of samples was at 80,237, aggregating to 94,36,817 specimens getting examined till date.

Tamil Nadu tests are RT-PCR, Reverse Transcription Tests Polymerase Chain Reaction based and does not use Rapid Antigen Diagnostic Tests (RADT). Today infection is shared by 779 new infections in chennai, Coimbatore recorded 287 new cases, Chengalpet 169, Thiruvallur 165, Salem 148, Kancheepuram 140 and Thiruppur 101, ariyalur the least with 3 new cases.
