Chennai: The state health department continued its rise in new cases for the second consecutive day on Friday as compared to 1,587 on Wednesday, 1,544 on Tuesday and 1,556 on Monday, when the state health department reported 1,596 cases. Twenty-one districts reported an increase in new cases, while 17 others reported a slight decline. State Health Minister Ma Subramaniam, who on Sunday held a detailed discussion about the upcoming mega vaccination camp, urged people to visit the nearest vaccination center between 7 am and 7 pm to get the first or second dose on time.

India recorded 34,973 new coronavirus infections, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases to 3,31,74,954, while the active cases came down to 3,90,646, according to data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Friday. Went. The death toll rose to 4,42,009 with 260 fresh deaths, according to the data updated at 8 am. Active cases comprise 1.18 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 97.49 per cent, the ministry said.
