These days controversial statements by politician on sensitive issue are very common. In a yet another controversial remark by  senior Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) , MLA Abdurahiman Randathani opposing mixed education of girls and boys made some derogatory remarks.  His statement came after Kerela government's curriculum revision aimed at teaching masturbation and homosexuality to teenagers.

The Muslim League leader said the proposal to make boys and girls sit together will harm the culture.  Explaining his point he said, "Girls dominate the educational institutions in Kerala. You take colleges, over 75%, 80% are girls. In my hometown 82% of college students are girls, and only the rest are boys... Girls have a pivotal role in our educational sector... they have gained a lot and come a long way.

He further added, “That was not achieved by making boys and girls sit together. They (the government) believe immense changes will happen in the education sector if teenage boys and girls sit together. And then? You should know the subjects being taught -- masturbation and homosexuality!,References to masturbation and homosexuality are there in the handbook given to the Kudumbashree volunteers. We are warning against the draining of moral values in society.”

He concluded his statement and added, “School authorities can themselves decide on the kind of uniforms for their students and whether to convert into mixed schools. A decision on curriculum reforms will be taken only after consultation with all departments."
