Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has re-appointed Ravi Shastri as the head coach of the Indian team. The Cricket Advisory Committee led by Kapil Dev has announced his name. Ravi Shastri has been selected as the coach of Team India for the next two years. Kapil Dev said there was a tough fight between the coach's contenders. Mike Hayson finished second and Tom Moody third. Robin Singh and Lalchand Rajput were also in the head coach race. Anshuman Gaikwad said that the Indian cricket team was in favour of Ravi Shastri.

"Ravi Shastri knows the team, knows every player, knows the system of the Indian cricket team. While other contenders do not have to make a fresh start," Ravi Shastri joined the Indian team as the head coach in 2017. India have won 13 out of 21 Tests since July 2017. The performance in the T20 matches was even better where India won 25 out of 36 matches.

In the ODI series, India dominated 43 out of 60 matches. Team India, led by Shastri, has achieved success in 70 per cent of international matches. These include two Asia Cup titles, historic Test Series victories in Australia. Virat Kohli is number one in the Test rankings and is second in ODIs after England.
