Melbourne: Team India have registered a resounding win, performing well in the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia. In the second innings of the first Test, after beating the entire Indian team for 36 runs to set an embarrassing record, India has defeated Australia by 8 wickets in the second test. Winning in the second Test of the 4 Test matches series is also mentally important for the Indian team, as captain Virat Kohli is out of the team due to paternity leave and injury to veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami.

Ajinkya Rahane, who led the team in the absence of Kohli, showed a brilliant game and played a great inning with the bat in the longest format of the game. Rahane added 112 runs to Team India's total of 326 runs after bowlers were dismissed by Australia for 195 runs in the first innings. Rahane was also assisted by Ravindra Jadeja, who scored 57 runs in the innings. After this, Jadeja showed his magic with the ball in the second innings, giving India two important wickets of Matthew Wade and Tim Paine. For India, Jaspreet Bumrah (2), Mohammad Siraj (3), Ravichandran Ashwin (2) and Umesh Yadav (1) took wickets. India bowled Australia for 200 runs in the second innings.

Initially, India faced some problems in chasing the target, as Mayank Agarwal once again went cheaply, while Cheteshwar Pujara was also able to contribute just three runs. Shubman Gill (35) and captain Rahane (27) chased down the target easily without losing wickets and gave India the victory.
