Team India, led by Rohit Sharma, is currently stuck in Barbados as Hurricane Beryl approaches, forcing the shutdown of the airport. The hurricane has also affected services at the team's hotel. The Indian cricket team players, their families, and BCCI officials are all staying at the Hotel Hilton in Barbados.

The team was scheduled to leave Barbados on Monday at 11 AM local time (8.30 PM IST) for New York, with connecting flights to Dubai and then to India. However, the approaching hurricane and airport closure have forced them to remain in Barbados.

Hurricane Beryl, originating in the Atlantic, has intensified to a Category 4 storm, with winds reaching up to 210 km/h.

“Services are disrupted at the team hotel as well. The airport is closed, so there is no clarity on departure due to the extremely dangerous hurricane. The BCCI is coordinating to ensure the entire contingent returns home safely,” a source said.

Adding to the concern, the hotel where Team India is staying is close to the coast, which is expected to be directly impacted by the Category 4 hurricane.

BCCI General Secretary Jay Shah is with the team and is overseeing efforts to ensure the safety of the players and their families. The BCCI is considering arranging a direct charter flight from Barbados to Delhi, but this will only be possible once the airport reopens.
