Unnao Rape Case: Charges Framed Against Expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar

NEW DELHI: Delhi court on Friday framed charges against expelled BJP MLA Kuldeep Sengar for allegedly raping a minor in Unnao in 2017.  The court has framed charges under criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, kidnapping or inducing a woman to compel for marriage, rape and other relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Earlier, Kuldeep Singh Sengar was produced before the court in Delhi after a production warrant issued by the court and after that Kuldeep Singh Sengar was sent to Tihar jail by the court.

Supreme Court had transferred four of the five cases, except road accidents, to a Court in Delhi. These five cases have been transferred to the court of District Judge Dharmesh Sharma. The Court is to complete the trial in 45 days. It has been decided to hold day to day hearings in this case. The court had directed the Uttar Pradesh government to provide compensation of Rs 25 lakh to the victim's family. The court had ordered to provide security to victim's family.

The apex court had then issued directions to shift the Tihar jail transfer to the uncle of the victim in Rae Bareli jail in connection with the murder attempt. The Centre had told the court that the CRPF has been deployed to protect the victim and her family.
