Telangana: TSRTC driver burns himself in fire during protest

Hyderabad: A driver of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC), who attempted suicide by setting himself on fire, died in a hospital on Sunday, following which angry roadways personnel and opposition parties started protesting. Srinivasa Reddy had set himself on fire in the city of Khamman on Saturday, causing severe burns.

He was admitted to Apollo DRDO Hospital in Hyderabad where he died during treatment. The driver took this suicide step during protests by TSRTC personnel, whose indefinite strike has been completed for the 9th day on Sunday. The employees union has alleged that Reddy was given the charge of C.M. Chandrashekhar Rao was afraid of leaving his job after the decision, in which he said that about 48,000 workers have lost their jobs by not returning to work before the last date fixed by the government.

He refused to appoint this personnel back to the TSRTC. Tension prevailed near the hospital in the Kanchanbagh area after the death of the driver, when the TSRTC employees union leader and opposition leader rushed there and staged protests blaming the government for Reddy's death.
