New Delhi: A fresh petition has been filed in the Supreme Court relating to the death of the accused in the Telangana encounter case. The court has asked the registrar to refer the matter to the court before mentioning it. The petition calls for lodging an FIR against the police officers and seizing all the evidence necessary for the case.

Earlier, the Supreme Court on Wednesday heard the Hyderabad encounter case conducted by the Telangana police. During the hearing, the court said that it proposes to appoint a former Supreme Court judge to investigate the Hyderabad encounter. The court had said that further hearing in this regard could be held on Thursday.

The court said that the Telangana High Court was already involved in the case, so it would appoint a former Supreme Court judge to investigate the matter, who could investigate the incident only while staying in Delhi.

It is being told that the bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde had taken cognizance of the request of advocate GS Mani for an early hearing in the matter. Mani said that the petition filed for independent investigation against the police officers present in this encounter needs an immediate hearing.
