Hyderabad: A Telangana government decree allocating a plot in Hyderabad's upmarket Banjara Hills to the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) for a new party headquarters has stirred a debate, with the opposition claiming the land might be worth as much as Rs 100 crore. The Congress labelled it "robbery in broad daylight," while the BJP said authorities should "stop acting like monkeys to the master."

According to the order, a 4,935 square-yard,  or just over one-acre  plot of government property is being allocated to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi for the construction of its party office for Hyderabad district "after rigorous assessment."

The land is located on NBT Nagar's Road No. 12 in Banjara Hills. The Telangana Bhavan, the party's posh headquarters, is already located nearby.

Krishank Manne, the TRS social media convenor and chairman of the Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation, rebutted the opposition's claims on Friday, asking how the Congress could criticise the state's ruling party when it pays "Rs 1 per month only for Gandhi Bhavan, the state Congress office."
