Karimnagar: Finance Minister Harish Rao said that "no other state in South India recognizes a wide range of journalists like Telangana. A journalist welfare fund of Rs 42 crore has been created, like nowhere else in the country." The government has provided financial assistance of Rs 20,000 to journalists affected by Covid-19. Financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh was given to the family of the deceased journalist. The families of the aggrieved journalist will be provided pension along with scholarship for the education of their children.

He said that a plan is being prepared in this direction and Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will take a decision on it soon. Assured to build a model journalist housing colony. 20 lakh will be sanctioned for the construction of a meeting hall for holding a press meeting at Husnabad Press Club. The minister along with MLA Vodithela Satish Kumar laid the foundation stone for the construction of 40 double bedroom houses in Kishan Nagar of Hussainabad mandal on Wednesday. Finance Minister T Harish Rao said that in the next few days, the program to build double bedroom houses on people's land will start.

He said that a plan is being prepared in this direction. He wanted the land acquisition to be completed within a week by giving compensation to the farmers. With the initiative of Harish Rao, the work of repairing the damaged roads in Husnabad assembly constituency has started. MLA Satish Kumar said that the tender for Husnabad National Highway would be completed within a month and work would be started soon.
