Hyederabad: Former Cyberabad commissioner VC Sajjanar on Friday took charge as the MD of Telangana State Road Transport Corporation at RTC Headquarters Bus Building in Hyderabad. It is learned that Sajjanar had earlier served as Cyberabad Police Commissioner and for the last three years worked for the elimination of anti-social elements in the city and took strict measures to curb crime. Sajjanar took several important decisions in the 'Disha' case, which created a sensation in the country in 2019. Sajjanar has previously worked in CID and Intelligence.

The Telangana government last Wednesday issued transfer orders of two IPS officers posting VC Sajjanar as TSRTC MD, IPS officer Stephen Ravindra as Cyberabad Police Commissioner. Earlier, the Managing Director in-charge of the Transport Department was overseeing the activities of the Corporation along with RTC Principal Secretary Sunil Sharma. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao recently reviewed the corporation and decided to have an IPS officer in the rank of TSRTC MD.

VC Sajjanar solved many sensational cases and is known for encounters of accused in Warangal Acid Attack and Veterinary (Disha) murder case. On December 6, Vishwanath.C. Sajjanar announced that the four accused in the 2019 Hyderabad gang rape-murder case were shot in self-defense by the Cyberabad police. Vishwanath Sajjanar is known to focus on issues of safety of women and children. He also settled cases such as multi-level scams, including the Chinese loan app case. He is also known for his strong focus on community and citizen friendly policing, cyber crime and human trafficking. Sajjanar started his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police of Janggaon (Warangal District). He also served as the Inspector General of Police (Special Intelligence).
