On Wednesday, the Telangana State Election Commission (SEC) directed the Principal Secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development to keep in mind the GHMC elections. Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has said that registration and relief distribution to flood affected families should be stopped until the GHMC announces the election results.

In an emergency conversation addressed to the Principal Secretary, SEC Secretary M. Ashok Kumar urged the government to stop registration and distribution of relief as "model model code of conduct" and "potential lying to influence voters". With the issuance of the GHMC election notification, the Model Code of Conduct will come into effect from Tuesday and will be in force until the election results are declared, he said.
