Telangana's Deputy Chief Minister, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, officially assumed his charges at the State Secretariat in Hyderabad on Thursday. His arrival was marked by a ceremonial atmosphere, with priests chanting mantras as Congress MLA Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu entered the State Secretariat.

During this event, various political figures including Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu, other Cabinet Ministers, former Minister and BRS Working President KTR, and several legislators were also present.

In recent legislative proceedings, AIMIM MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi was chosen as the pro-tem Speaker of the House and administered the oath of office to newly elected MLAs on December 9. However, BJP MLAs declined to take the oath from Owaisi, claiming his appointment violated regulations.

Additionally, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy conducted a comprehensive evaluation of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project and its expansion plans, as well as the Airport Metro Project, on Thursday. Emphasizing the need for equitable development across the city, he suggested prioritizing the Airport Metro alignment through the Old City from MGBS - Falaknuma and from LB Nagar to serve a larger portion of the populace situated in central, eastern, and Old City areas.

Revanth Reddy highlighted Hyderabad's potential as a global city without geographical limitations and stressed the city's equal expansion in all directions. He proposed plans to accommodate an initial population of about two crore and eventually three crore by developing satellite townships around the Outer Ring Road (ORR). The Metro Rail system, according to him, will play a crucial role in ensuring affordable and efficient connectivity to these satellite townships, given Telangana's current urbanization rate of 40%.
