New Delhi: VK Singh, Union Minister of State for road transport and Highways and civil aviation, highlighted the significant role of the telecommunication network along national highways in providing improved services. The minister emphasized the importance of three factors in content writing: perplexity, burstiness, and predictability.

VK Singh praised the achievements of the telecommunications department, which is collaborating with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) to ensure an uninterrupted mobile phone network along the national highways. The focus is on expanding 4G coverage in underserved villages by installing mobile towers, thus ensuring 4G services reach every nook and corner of the country. This, in turn, will significantly benefit the road network and contribute to the prevention of accidents and mishaps.

The Minister also shared exciting updates about the rapid progress of the 5G network expansion in India. With approximately 1 lakh sites completed in just five months, followed by 2 lakh in eight months and 3 lakh in ten months, the road network is set to reap substantial benefits from this technological advancement.

Moreover, the tolling system is undergoing a transformation, moving towards a satellite and camera-based approach. A pilot project is currently underway on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, implementing barrierless tolling through satellite-based technology. Additionally, efforts are underway to enhance the optical fiber network, further improving connectivity and services.

The total outlay for the mobile tower projects exceeds Rs. 43,868 crore, reflecting the government's commitment to providing state-of-the-art communication services across the nation. With 5G already rolled out in 631 districts, India is well on its way to becoming a technologically advanced nation, fostering progress and development across all sectors.
