HYDERABAD: With assets of Rs 301 crore, the Telengana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) is India's second richest regional party. The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) came in fourth place with Rs 188 crore in assets, followed by the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRC) with Rs 143 crore.
These information were revealed in a report released on Friday by the Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), an electoral reform advocacy group. The information was derived from the political parties' 2019-2020 income tax forms.
According to ADR, the assets are divided into six categories: fixed assets, loans and advances, FDR/ deposits, TDS, investments, and others.
The top 10 regional political parties have assets totaling Rs 2028.715 crore, out of a total of 44. The Samajwadi Party (SP) revealed the most assets among regional parties, totaling Rs 563.47 crore, followed by the TRS with Rs 301.47 crore and the AIADMK with Rs 267.61 crore.
The TD has the most overall liabilities, at Rs 30.342 crore, followed by the DMK with Rs 8.05 crore. The TRS owes Rs 4.41 crore in debt.
The capital and reserve funds of the regional parties were also declared. The TRS has Rs 297.06 crore, the TD Rs 157.84 crore, and the YSRCP Rs 143.31 crore in its coffers.
