Shimla: Fresh snowfall occurred in the higher reaches of Kashmir and Koksar and Lahaul-Spiti in Himachal Pradesh on Friday. During this time, traffic has been stopped in Rohtang Pass area. While there was 15 cm of snowfall on Friday morning in Lahaul and Spiti, 5 cm of fresh snowfall was recorded in Koksar.

According to the information received, snowfall was recorded in the hilly areas of Jammu and Kashmir, while there was a lot of rain in the plains. Giving this information, an official said that about four inches of snow fell during the night in Gulmarg in Baramulla district of North Kashmir. He said that there are reports of snowfall in other high altitude areas including Zojila Pass, Amarnath Cave, Sonmarg and Gurez of the valley.

Sources said that an official said that there was heavy rain in the valley plains including Srinagar. The Meteorological Department has forecast snowfall or light rain in Jammu and Ladakh areas in the next 24 hours and moderate rain or snowfall in Kashmir. Scattered light rains are expected on Saturday and the weather is expected to remain dry till Tuesday. At the same time, the Meteorological Department is expecting snowfall in Himachal for the next three days.
