Karnataka: Beach and temple tourism are expected to rise exponentially in the coming months, according to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who also stated that the government has requested the Centre to make required amendments to the Coastal Regulation Zone standards.

He was speaking when the Mangaluru Division of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation opened the Dr. V.S. Acharya Bus Terminal in Udupi. Bommai, who was previously the Minister in Charge of the Udupi District, stated that the Government is prioritising the district's entire development.

While construction on the city's 250-bed government hospital has already begun, the district will soon receive a medical college through a public-private collaboration. He said that sufficient funds had been released for drinking water and subsurface drainage projects. The government was committed to the coast's economic growth.

Bommai urged KSRTC to guarantee bus operations were on time. In the coastal region, private operators provided effective service, and KSRTC should work hard to improve its services. He stated that the government would soon make a decision on the construction of two multiplexes on the grounds of the bus station.

Ministers S. Angara and Kota Srinivas Poojary, as well as MLA K. Raghupathi Bhat and others, were in attendance.
