Srinagar: Two militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian on Tuesday. The incident took place in the Avaniera area. 178 Battalions of CRPF, SOG Zanapora and Rashtriya Rifles carried out search operation by laying siege to the area. The encounter took place between security forces and militants at 3 am.

According to information received from sources, the army said that the bodies of two terrorists were recovered by the Jawans during the search operation. Additional security forces have been deployed in the adjoining areas of Anvira to stop the demonstration. The Internet service has been discontinued to prevent the rumours from spreading in Shopian. According to army officers, the security forces killed 101 militants in the valley this year.

With this, they include 23 foreigners and 78 local militants. At worst, 25 militants were killed in Shopian, including 16 local.
