Karachi: After the arrest of Mohammad Safdar, son-in-law of former PM Nawaz Sharif, and the registration of an FIR against him, he is expressing displeasure in the police department of Sindh. Two Additional Inspectors General (AIG), 7 Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and 6 senior superintendents have applied for leave against this incident. He has submitted the request for his leave to the Inspector General of Sindh, Mushtaq Mahar. These officials say that due to the pressure arising out of Safdar's arrest, his morale has fallen and it can be troublesome for him to perform duty.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Vice-President Maryam Nawaz has alleged that Sindh's Inspector General of Police was forcibly taken to the sector commander's office and asked to sign an arrest order. He claimed that when the Inspector General expressed his reluctance, he was told that the Ranger would take Safdar into custody. But, after forcibly signing them, the police have asked to be detained.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Army Chief Qamar Javed Bajwa has announced a high-level investigation into Safdar's arrest. Safdar has been detained on Monday from his hotel room in Karachi. A statement issued by the army said that the Army Chief has asked the Karachi Corps commander to take immediate action and submit the report as soon as possible. The statement, however, did not explain which incident he asked to be investigated. Earlier the President of Pakistan People's Party Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari had demanded the administration to investigate the incidents related to Safdar's arrest. Bilawal, while speaking to reporters at a press conference, said that all the top officials of the Sindh police were surprised as to who were the people who surrounded the police chief's house and took him to an undisclosed location before Safdar's arrest.
