A fake call centre has been busted in Gurugram, Haryana, and a joint team of the Chief Minister's Flying Squad and police raided the call centre. Police have arrested 24 people working at the call centre. All of them are accused of cheating people from the US and Canada by talking to officials of the Financial Crime Unit, Bureau of Narcotics, Canadian Intelligence Service. The police have initiated action in the case.
The items recovered from the call centre include 10 women and 14 men, among the 24 people who have been detained by the police. According to Pritpal Singh, ACP (Crime) in Gurugram, the criminals working in the call centre used to do illegal recovery in the name of giving tech support by sending voice mails and popups and stating that they were involved in drug trafficking, money laundering and identity-concealing offences. The police team has seized two COMPUTER CPUs (Central Processing Unit), two mobile phones and Rs 2.5 lakh in cash from the call centre.
Police had received information about the call centre: ACP (Crime) Pritpal Singh said that late at night, the Chief Minister's Flying Squad received a tip-off that Umesh Yadav alias Ommi, Manik, Assley run a fake call centre on plot number 9, Gali number-11, M Block, M Block, Gurugram of DLF Phase-2. The employee working at this call centre was collecting money in the name of providing social insurance numbers (SIN) and tech support by sending voice mails and popups through computers to Canadian citizens. Call centre employees described themselves as officers of agencies such as the Canada Border Service and then duped people.
12th pass is the operator of the fake call centre: In the midst of the raid, the police have committed a major crime like the owner of the call centre and his employees to extort money by duping them of people of US and Canadian origin. The police have arrested everyone. The operator of the call centre, Umesh, is a 12th pass and used to run the call centre fraudulently to dupe us and Canadian citizens.
