Hyderabad: The first memorial of its kind in the country has been inaugurated in a village in Telangana in memory of those killed due to coronavirus infection. The memorial was established on Thursday in Rajannapet village under Rajanna Sirsilla district. It has been founded by a voluntary group of doctors and professionals based in India and abroad called 'Project Help'. The memorial has been dedicated to all citizens of the country who lost their lives due to coronavirus during 2020-2021.

A statement issued by the group on Friday said 'Project Help' believes that India can neither forget those killed by the epidemic nor abandon ways to prevent corona infection. The statement said that a program was organized in honor of rural health workers who helped ensure 100 percent immunization in the village and make Rajannapet the first village in the country to be fully vaccinated on July 31 this year.

Telangana reported 153 new corona cases on Thursday, raising the total number of infected people to 6,73,140, while the death toll from infection swelled to 3,971. According to the state government bulletin, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) recorded the highest number of 52 new corona cases. The number of infections swelled to more than the new covid-19 cases, as 160 more patients were free from infection, raising the number of recoveries to 665,432 so far.
