The Mahindra XUV400 was first presented to the world on Thursday night and will soon be available to customers in the Indian market. Tata Nexon EV Prime and Nexon EV Max will face off against Mahindra's XUV400. The eXUV300 concept car at the 2020 Auto Expo served as the foundation for the XUV400. The electric SUV has undergone some substantial upgrades from Mahindra. It has a redesigned exterior and interior to make it simpler to distinguish from the XUV300, which has a traditional internal combustion engine.

Customers will be able to test drive the XUV400 starting in December 2022, and in January of the following year, prices will be announced and reservations will be accepted. By the end of January 2023, deliveries will begin. The XUV400 will be made available in 16 cities in the initial phase. Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur, Surat, Nagpur, Trivandrum, Nashik, Chandigarh, and Kochi would be the first cities to introduce the XUV400.

The XUV400's battery pack has a 39.4 kWh capacity and is IP67 dust- and water-proof. The battery itself is made in India, and there is also a chiller and a heater for it. The battery can be charged up to 80% with the 50 kWh DC fast charger in 50 minutes. The battery will take 6 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge when using a 7.2 kW/32A outlet. The battery pack needs 13 hours to fully charge using a home 3.3 kW/16A outlet.

According to the Indian driving cycle, the Mahindra XUV400 has a 456 km driving range (MIDC). Mahindra also offers one pedal driving, which initiates automatic braking and electricity regeneration when the driver releases the accelerator. This mode is known by Mahindra as "Lively mode."

The XUV400's wheelbase is 2,600 mm, the same as the XUV300's. It measures 4,200 mm in length, 1,821 mm in width, and 1,634 mm in height. This indicates that the XUV400 is the segment's broadest electric SUV and is longer than the XUV300.

A copper-finished twin-peak logo is included with the SUV. The first of Mahindra's electric SUVs to feature the copper twins-peak emblem is the XUV400. The XUV400 and XUV300 share a similar exterior design, although there are some modifications, including a new grille, larger length, reworked front, and a separate set of LED tail lamps. The alloy wheels have a diamond-cut finish and are 16 inches in size.
