The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 test mule has recently become a fairly familiar sight, but on this occasion, it was seen for the first time with accessories, and these most recent crisp pictures also show some new information about the bike itself.
As is obvious, the Himalayan 450 is furnished with baggage this time around in the form of panniers and a top box made of aluminum. Since the introduction of the 650 twins, RE has created accessories to go along with their motorcycle. You may anticipate seeing similar luggage alternatives in the final brochure because this pattern continues with the Himalayan 450. The Tripper navigation pod, touring seats and mirrors, and cosmetic upgrades are further possible candidates.
The most intriguing new feature on the motorcycle itself is towards the back, notably the indicators. There is no solo brake light visible, thus it is likely that these indicators will illuminate bright red while the vehicle is braking. These appear to serve as both DRLs and brake lamps. The BMW R 1250 GS also has these multipurpose indicators, albeit the BMW does feature a solo tail-lamp. These multipurpose indicators are remarkably similar to those found on several Harley-Davidson models.
If the Himalayan arrives on the market before the planned 650cc cruisers, it will be the first RE to be equipped with an LED headlight as standard. The existence of a heat sink on the back of the headlight further confirms that it will be an LED unit. Another intriguing feature is the existence of steel-braided brake lines, which are not present on the current Himalayan rubber brake hoses but are present on the 650cc twins.
A closer examination of the circular instrument cluster in these images reveals the last surprise. With a round digital insert in the center and an analog speedometer on either side, it is situated rather high up in the cockpit and has a similar (but not exact) design to the Meteor.
These photos also make it obvious that the motorcycle's finishing is still pretty shoddy throughout, indicating that it will still be some time before this machine is ready for sale.
