Soon after announcing the end of local manufacturing in India, Ford India announced a leadership change. Anurag Mehrotra, the present President and Managing Director of Ford India, would resign by the end of the month, according to the American automaker.

Balasundaram Radhakrishnan (Bala), who is presently the Director of Manufacturing at Ford India Pvt Ltd (FIPL), would be the transformation officer, according to the company. "Bala will lead and supervise the restructuring's transformation efforts," a FIPL spokesman said, adding that the business is dedicated to serving customers and partners in India.

Ford has announced that its two facilities in India will cease car manufacture after almost three decades of operations in the nation. Ford's only option in India will be to sell imported automobiles. The American automaker said it has invested over USD 2.5 billion in its Chennai (Tamil Nadu) and Sanand (Gujarat) facilities, but has lost more than USD 2 billion in India. Over 4,000 employees and 150 dealer owners who manage over 300 shops will be impacted by the company's decision to discontinue local manufacturing.

By late-2021, Ford India will cease car assembly in Sanand, and vehicle and engine manufacturing in Chennai would be reduced by the first part of the following year. However, the firm will continue to produce engines for export from its Sanand facility.

All Ford cars such as the EcoSport, Figo, Endeavour, Freestyle, and Aspire that were built at either of the two factories will now be retired as a result of Ford India's decision to end local manufacturing.
