Badaun: A Muslim girl ran away from home and married a man according to Hindu rituals in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh. After the marriage, Soumya requested for protection from the administration, citing the threat to her life from the village head. Ilma Khan, a resident of Badaun, renounced her Muslim religion and converted to Hinduism at August Muni Ashram in Bareilly and became Soumya and married her friend Somesh in a temple.
Acharya Pandit KK Shankhadhar of August Muni Ashram in Bareilly said that both of them were married according to Hindu rituals. Ilma, who hails from the Badaun district, has known Somesh for years and their friendship turned into love. After converting from Muslim to Hindu, Ilma changed her name to Soumya in August Muni Ashram. After this, pandit Acharya KK Shankhadhar of the temple purified her after which she got married according to Hindu rituals. After marriage, young man Somesh said that from the beginning, the youth had to come to Soumya's house, then fell in love, Soumya also likes Hinduism, and her sister was being persecuted after marriage, so she was also scared.
After marriage, the girl who became Soumya from Ilma said, "Somesh used to come to our house since childhood, first we became friends, then fell in love and then got married.'' The girl further said, "She has not converted under any pressure, triple talaq is in Islam and I don't like it. I feel safe by getting married in Sanatan Dharma.'' The girl said, "We have a threat to our lives from the village head as he has said that wherever we are found, they will kill both of us". We want to be given police protection. Pandit KK Shankhadhar, who got them married, said, "One and a half to two months ago, both of them had left their house and were wandering, then came to us. After giving an affidavit and showing me the proof that they are adults, I asked if she was not getting married and converted under any pressure or if she was threatened by anyone. The girl denied all these things, after which we got them married considering her thoughts.''
