You will be surprised to know that the longest word in English has 1,89,819 letters and it will take you three and a half hours to pronounce it correctly. This word is the chemical name of a protein named titin found in the human body. According to scientists, more than 2 million proteins are found in the human body, which are made from amino acids. Titin is the longest known protein in the human body, which contains more than 26 thousand amino acids.

The chemical name of titin was first kept in the English dictionary, but later when the name caused trouble, it was removed from the dictionary itself. It is now known only as Titin. Titin protein was discovered by Regi Natori in the year 1954. Subsequently, in the year 1977, Kossak Maruyama and his colleagues did further research on this and named this protein Konectin. Two years later, Kuan Wang and his colleagues also studied this protein and named it Titin.
