Nation celebrates Vijay Diwas today ; the day to commemorate Indian forces' victory in the 1971 Bangladesh war resulting in surrender of over 1 lakh Pakistani soldiers and creation of an independent Bangladesh.

In national capital New Delhi  Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Devraj Anbu, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba and Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa paid tribute at Amar Jawan Jyoti on Vijay Diwas today.

India celebrates Vijay Day every year since 1971 on 16th December. in the year 1971, India won victory by giving a shameful defeat to Pakistan. That is why Vijay Day is celebrated on Dec. 16. Soldiers of the Indian Army was proudly widened at that time when the whole army of Pakistan had failed in front of India in the war. After the end of the war, 93,000 Pakistani soldiers surrendered to India. 

The special thing is that in the war of 1971, India had defeated Pakistan and after that East Pakistan became independent. Today, the world knows Bangladesh as the name. Let this be the beginning of the war that started on 25 March 1971 and it ended on December 16, 1971. The Bangladesh Liberation War was in 1971, it is also called 'Mukti Sangram'. Earlier, Bangladesh was part of Pakistan.
