MUMBAI: The Marathi movie "Sumi," which won the Best Children's Film prize at the 68th National Film Awards, will soon be available on streaming services. The movie's developers recently unveiled the poster.

The film takes with a number of significant issues, including "female child education, women empowerment, education in rural areas, and infrastructural development," according to the film's director, Amol Vasant Gole. When discussing his movie, Gole said: "We took a chance telling a courageous story, and it has paid off. Every character in the movie will leave the audience with a clear message, but the characters of the two kids in particular have done an outstanding job of acting realistically by emulating their anxieties and feelings." The movie, which also stars seasoned actors Smita Tambe and Nitin Bhajan as well as young performers Akanksha Pingale and Divyesh Indulkar, tells the uplifting tale of a stone quarry worker's daughter who pursues higher education. The Planet Marathi OTT platform will host the release of "Sumi."

National Award-winning Akshay Bardapurkar, the founder of Planet Marathi OTT, commented on the release: "Films like Sumi are bold, avant-garde works that merit a worldwide audience. Jha is the author of the original story, which has been co-produced by Anand Panchal, Jayaditya Giri, Sonali Jayant, and Jayant Yewale, along with Harshall Vinay Kamat, Swati S. Sharma, and Mihir Kumar Sharma.

On November 14, Children's Day in India, the movie will be accessible for streaming on Planet Marathi OTT.
