Patna: An old man who came to meet a female prisoner in Bihar's Arrah jail was thrashed by a Mandal prison constable in such a way that his hip bone broke. Thereafter, the people present on the spot immediately informed the Arrah Nagar police station through dial 112, after which the policemen admitted the injured old man to Arrah Sadar Hospital for immediate treatment.

According to the information received, Latmar Paswan, a resident of Dhavri village of Shahpur, had gone to meet his daughter Poonam Kumari who was lodged in Arrah Jail on Saturday, when the family members who came to meet the inmates of the jail started leaving the queue and entering inside as soon as the gate opened. Seeing the crowd of family members, a constable stationed at the main gate of the jail started lathi charge to drive everyone out. Even the old men standing there became victims of the havoc of the lathis of the policemen, but the security personnel continued to beat them regardless of their age. Due to this, the old man was badly injured and his hip bone was broken. The persons present there at the time of this incident informed the Dial 112 police team. After that, the police reached the spot and took the old man to Sadar Hospital.

Old man Latmar Paswan, who was injured by police beating, said that he was standing at the jail gate to meet his daughter who was in jail, in the meanwhile, the security guard posted there lathi-charged me, in which I was also beaten up and injured. If the eyewitness who came to meet the prisoner is to be believed, then the jail policeman has beaten up the visitors by locking them inside the jail gate. On the other hand, Dr. Ashutosh, who is treating the injured old man, told that the bone near the waist of the old patient has fractured. He said that at present X-ray is being done and an orthopedic specialist has been advised for further treatment. On the other hand, if ASI Kunwar Singh of Nagar Police Station, who was part of the Dial 112 police team that took the injured to the hospital, then the news was received that a jail policeman has lathi-charged in which an old man has also been injured. They said, We reached there and brought the injured old man to Arrah Sadar Hospital for treatment. However, this is not the first case where elderly people have been injured due to beating by policemen. This type of incident has happened before also.
