The 88th Annual Academy Awards took place last night on 29th February at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. Where Spotlight won the best picture and Mad Max: Fury Road came with the 2nd most nominated movie in the Oscars as its closest rival The Revenant which had 3rd most nominated film on 2016 Oscars.
Spotlight’s wins bookended the Oscars, as it won the night’s first award for best Original Screenplay. And the The Revenant director Alejandro G. Inarritu won the best director of the year and became the only second helmer to win back to back Oscars. However the film also won the best actor awards for Leonardo DiCaprio who won best actor in his sixth nomination.
