The pilots of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane which crashed in Pakistan last month were distracted and were talking about the coronavirus during the flight. Pakistan's aviation minister gave this information in Parliament on Wednesday. It has been learned that the Minister has put up the fact that the 'extreme self-belief and lack of attention' of the pilots in the causes of the said plane crash are some of the reasons. As many as 97 people died in this incident. Domestic flight from Lahore to Karachi crashed on 22 May near Jinnah International Airport in Karachi. When the Airbus A320 aircraft of the National Aviation Company crashed in Jinnah Garden area near Model Colony in Malir on Friday, there were 91 passengers and eight crew members. The plane crashed just minutes before landing at the airport. Two passengers survived the accident.

Aviation Minister Ghulam Sarwar Khan presented an interim inquiry report in the National Assembly on the PIA plane crash. It said that the pilot was not focused and because of this the plane crashed. He said that Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crashed due to pilot's mistake and air traffic control. The minister said that the pilots ignored air traffic control instructions. He said, 'Both the pilot and ATC did not follow the protocol. Pilots were discussing Coronavirus during the entire flight. They were talking about the coronavirus, about their families being affected. When the control tower asked the pilot to increase the height of the aircraft, the pilot said that he would manage. He was overconfident. Sarwar said that the crew member and ATC were also responsible for the accident. He said, 'Whoever is responsible will be made accountable. Also promised that the full investigation report will be presented in a year."

According to sources, the Minister said that in the initial report it was mentioned that there was no technical flaw in the aircraft and the pilots have not even said about it in their conversation with the air traffic controller. The minister said the aircraft touched the runway three times without landing gear causing damage to its engine. The aviation minister said that 40 percent of the pilots of the national carrier were flying the aircraft with fake licenses. He said that these pilots have neither given the exam themselves nor did they have proper flying experience. He said, "Unfortunately, pilots are also appointed on political grounds."
