New Delhi: Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi is currently on a 10-day visit to the US. During this, he made a big claim while answering questions at the National Press Club in Washington on Thursday (June 1). He described the Muslim League, which played a key role in the partition of India, as completely secular. In fact, Rahul Gandhi was asked, 'You talked about secularism and democracy while opposing the Hindu party BJP. But in Kerala, from where you were a Lok Sabha MP, the Congress has been in alliance with the Muslim Party Muslim League." In response, former Congress MP Rahul Gandhi said, "The Muslim League is a completely secular party, there is nothing non-secular in the Muslim League." I think you have not read about the Muslim League.

The country was divided due to the Muslim League:

However, from this statement of Rahul Gandhi, it seems that he himself has not read about the Muslim League. Actually, the history of the Muslim League is very surprising. The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) claims that it was founded in the year 1948 after India became independent. But the reality is that the IUML is an  offshoot of Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah's All India Muslim League (AIML). After the partition of India, Jinnah's All India Muslim League (AIML) was established as the Muslim League in Pakistan and the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in India. The same Muslim League had strongly raised the demand for a separate country of Muslims and after partition, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) was established in March 1948 to keep the feelings and intentions of the All India Muslim League (AIML) alive in independent India. Even, he actively participated in the first president of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). Not only this, Muhammad Ismail was a supporter of partition and the creation of a separate country for Muslims.

It is also worth noting that Muhammad Ismail, the first president of the Indian Union Muslim League, which Rahul Gandhi is calling a completely 'secular party', advocated in the Constituent Assembly to uphold Sharia law for Indian Muslims. Muhammad Ismail, the founder and chairman of IUML, the first political party of Muslims after the partition of India, had claimed, like the views of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah of Pakistan, that he (Ismail) and his party IUML were the only party for the Muslims of India. However, later, even though the Congress joined hands with the Muslim League for the greed of vote bank, Jawaharlal Nehru, who was once the country's first Prime Minister, flatly refused to ally with Jinnah's Muslim League. Due to the appeasement policy of the Congress, an Islamist party like IUML got the biggest support to do religious politics in the name of protecting the interests of Muslims.

Muslim League was involved in Marad Hindu massacre

The IUML, which Rahul Gandhi claims to be secular, has also come up in the case of inciting communal violence in Kerala. According to the Justice Thomas P Joseph Commission report, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) was also involved in planning and executing the Marad massacre in Kerala in 2003. The Justice Joseph Commission report had termed the Marad massacre as a "communal conspiracy by Islamic fundamentalists and terrorist organisations". In this massacre, fishermen sitting on the banks of Marad beach and devotees returning from a nearby temple were attacked by a mob of fundamentalists with weapons like swords, knives, etc. In which 8 innocent Hindu fishermen were killed and 16 Hindus including 2 women were seriously injured. It was found to be the complicity of CPM, PFI and  IUML. Police had found 90 crude bombs and 40 knives inside the Juma Masjid at that time. Simultaneously, in the year 2017, the CBI had registered a new FIR while investigating the case of violence against IUML leaders. In the investigation of this case, PP Moideen Koya and Moin Haji of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), described as secular by Rahul Gandhi, were found to be involved in funding, conspiring for the riots.

So Pakistan must be completely a secular country and Jinnah must be the mother of Indian democracy.

This is the reason why Rahul Gandhi's description of the Muslim League as secular is being made fun of in Pakistan as well.   According to Rahul Gandhi, the Muslim League is a completely secular party.  So Pakistan should be a completely secular country and Jinnah should be the father of Indian democracy. This Twitter handle keeps raising voice against the atrocities being committed by fundamentalists on minorities in Pakistan.
