In a devastating incident on Tuesday morning, a high-speed collision occurred on the Chitrakoot Highway involving a Roadevz bus (Janrath) and a Bolero. The collision resulted in the tragic death of seven occupants of the Bolero, including the driver, along with one additional casualty. Six individuals sustained injuries in the accident.

Details of the Incident

The Bolero, driven by Pratap Patel, a resident of Banda district in Madhya Pradesh, was returning from Chitrakoot to Ayodhya after taking a dip at the Sangam in Prayagraj. The collision took place near Bagrehi Mod on the Jhansi-Mirzapur Highway. The impact was so severe that half of the Bolero ended up lodged in the front portion of the bus.

Fatalities and Injuries

The casualties included Pratap Patel, his father Anandi Patel, wife Ashoka Devi, daughter Aakanksha, son Sanad Patel, sister Ramabai, and another passenger, Jagjeet Kushwaha from Kamasin Banda. Pratap Patel's daughter Aakanksha, son Sanad, sister Ramabai, and Kushwaha from Banda lost their lives in the collision.

Rescue Operation and Response

Local residents rushed to the scene and, with the help of the police, managed to separate the two vehicles. The collision caused a significant traffic jam on the highway for nearly an hour. District Magistrate Abhishek Anand and SP Vrinda Shukla arrived at the scene promptly and coordinated the rescue efforts.

Eyewitness Accounts and Investigation

Eyewitnesses reported that both vehicles were traveling at high speeds, and the Bolero driver lost control after overtaking another vehicle at the Mod. In an attempt to avoid a collision, both drivers swerved in the opposite direction, resulting in a catastrophic impact. The collision occurred with such force that half of the Bolero entered the front portion of the bus.

Impact on the Families

Pratap Patel, the Bolero driver, supported his family financially, and his sudden demise has left his family devastated. The incident occurred as the family was returning from Prayagraj after seeking medical treatment. The grief is compounded by the fact that both children were studying in a Navodaya Vidyalaya. The tragic accident on Chitrakoot Highway serves as a somber reminder of the need for cautious driving and road safety. The loss of eight lives, including innocent children, has deeply affected the local community. Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause of the collision.
