One of the most prestigious awards, the Academy Awards popularly Known as Oscar awards will be held on March 12, 2023 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles. Surpassing all Big Budget Bollywood and South Indian movie, a small Budget Gujarati movie Chhello Show was selected as India’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards for the international film category on Tuesday. 

Story of Chhello Show

'Chhello Show' aka 'Last Film Show' movie real story: Is 'Chhello Show' movie aka 'Last Film Show' based on a true story? A reminder of childhood innocence, the coming-of-age story of a young boy living in a village in Saurashtra celebrates the magic of the movies.  The story of 'Chhello Show' revolves around a nine-year-old boy living in Chalala, a village in Saurashtra, Gujarat state, who loves to watch movies. At that time when the story is set, the cinema was watched through a projector. This small child enters the projection booth of a hall by bribing a cinema projector technician named Fazal. Similarly, it watches many movies. Chhello means last in Gujarati hence it was named 'Chhelo Show: The Last Film Show 2021'.

'Chhelo Show' is inspired by its movie’s director Pan Nalin's childhood memories, which makes it a semi-autobiographical film. Nalin was born and spent all her childhood in Adtala village of Saurashtra. 'Chhelo Show' features six village boys from local communities in the region and was shot in villages and railway stations in Saurashtra. He also brought in old celluloid Hindi films and technicians to run projectors to make the film look as real as possible.

Chellow show features Bhavin Rabari, Richa Meena, Bhavesh Shrimali, Dipen Raval and Paresh Mehta, Chhello Show was globally premiered as the opening film at Robert DeNiro’s Tribeca Film Festival in June 2021.
