Dehradun: After much deliberation, Congress has finally declared the face of its candidate from Champawat assembly seat. Nirmala Gahatodi will stand in front of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami from Champawat seat. On May 4, the notification of the by-election has been issued and nomination papers were also being taken, but on which face the Congress will bet in the by-election, this mystery could not be uncovered. In the same Champawat assembly seat, Congress has bet on a woman candidate in front of Chief Minister Dhami in the by-election. Party's state president Karan Mahra had indicated that the party may decide the name of the candidate by Friday. Voting for the Champawat by-election is to be held on May 31. Its notification was issued on 4 May. Thereafter, the process of enrollment started. May 11 is the last date for nominations.

The Central Election Committee of BJP has declared CM Pushkar Singh Dhami as the candidate for the by-election to Champawat assembly seat. Party's national general secretary and headquarters in-charge Arun Singh gave news in this regard. Dhami will file his nomination on May 9. Many party stalwarts will gather on this occasion.
