Three laborers lost their lives in an explosion at a firecracker warehouse in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka. Also six people were injured. The explosion was so strong that its echo was heard up to 5 km away. The bodies of the dead were scattered here and there in pieces. Seeing the intensity of the blast and the damage caused in the warehouse, questions are now being raised whether only firecrackers were being made here? Because the explosion was as if a grenade (bomb) had exploded. The accident took place at Kukkady in Beltangadi.
On receiving information about the accident, police and forensic team reached the spot. Such materials were found in and around the warehouse, which are suspected to be used in making grenades. At the same time, the forensic team also found material related to making grenade from the spot, the sample of which was taken. The accident happened around 5.30 pm on January 28. Bodies were scattered within a radius of a hundred meters around the explosion. The team of Belthangady Fire Brigade immediately reached the spot and extinguished the fire. The shed built near the warehouse was completely demolished. Villagers told that they heard the sound of the explosion far away.
SP took stock of the incident site: SP CB Rishiyant took stock of the incident site. A person named Syed Bashir got the license of the firecracker warehouse. SP has said in this regard that investigation is being done. This accident happened in Kukkadi village of Belthangady. Three workers lost their lives in this accident. The deceased are Swami (55), Varghese (68) and Chetan (25). This accident happened in the firecracker warehouse of Solid Fire Works. The injured include Dinesh Hasan, Kiran Hasan, Kumar Arasikere, Kallesha Chikkamarahalli, Prem Kerala and Keshav.
