New Delhi: The Supreme Court has flatly refused to hear the petitions demanding a ban on caste-based counting in Bihar. The Nitish government has currently got relief from the court. The Supreme Court has asked the petitioners to approach the Patna High Court. The apex court on Friday dismissed all the petitions filed against the caste enumeration.

Let us tell you that, in the past, various petitions were filed in the Supreme Court demanding a ban on caste-based counting. Hindu Sena alleged in its petition that the Nitish government is working to divide the society through caste calculation. At the same time, Akhilesh Kumar, a social activist from Nalanda, has called it unconstitutional in his petition. He says that the Nitish government's notification to conduct a caste census is against the constitution because only the central government has the right to conduct the census.

Let us tell you that the first phase of caste enumeration in Bihar started on January 7, and will end on Saturday. Houses are being counted in the first phase. After this, there will be a second phase from April 1, in which other data including the caste of the people will be collected.
