The second tournament of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour 2022 season is scheduled to begin today under the name of Charity Cup. The players of this competition had already announced to dedicate all their male-duty money to the victims of the war in Ukraine. India will be represented in the competition by Vidit Gujarati, Harikrishna Pentala and R Praggnandha.

Along with them, current world champion Magnus Carlsen of Norway, Ding Liren of China, Le Quang Liem of Vietnam, Hans Niemann of USA, Eric Hansen of Canada, Richard Report of Hungary, David Navara of Czech Republic, current world women's champion Ju Wenjoon and Lei Tingji of China, Gwen Jones of England, Jordan Van Forrest of Netherlands, David Anton of Spain and Yan Duda of Poland are going to take part.

There will be a total of 15 rounds on a round-robin basis on the first three days among the total 16 players and after that, the top 8 players are going to take part in the play.
