World Hindi Day is celebrated every year on 10 January worldwide. This day is very special for Indians. It was first celebrated on 10 January 2006. When the then Prime Minister of India Manmohan Singh announced to celebrate World Hindi Day on 10 January. Since that time, World Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January every year. Its main goal is to make Hindi an international language status and to promote it. Hindi has to be reached to the people. In the present time, PM Narendra Modi also gives a speech in the Hindi language on the world stage. Earlier, the late PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee gave a speech in Hindi at the United Nations.

When is Hindi Day celebrated in India:
Hindi Day and World Hindi Day are celebrated on two different dates. World Hindi Day is celebrated on 10 January. Hindi day is celebrated on 14 September. The great Hindi litterateur Vyauhar Rajendra Singh worked hard to make Hindi the national language. Due to their hard work and struggle, Hindi became the national language. Vyauhar Rajendra Singh was born on 14 September 1900 in Jabalpur, MP. On 14 September 1949, the Savindhan Sabha, taking serious note of his efforts, unanimously decided that Hindi will be the national language of the country. This day was also the 50th birthday of Vyauhar Rajendra Singh. Kaka Kalelkar, Maithilesharan Gupta, Hazariprasad Dwivedi, Seth Govinddas have also played an important role in making Hindi the national language.

How is celebrated:
On this day, World Hindi is celebrated in the embassies of India all over the world. Cultural ceremonies are organized for the promotion of Hindi. World Hindi is celebrated enthusiastically in many schools and colleges. Many people come forward to talk about the importance of Hindi language and Indian culture. Schools host Hindi debate, poetry and storytelling competitions and cultural celebrations on Hindi Day.
